The mental health and wellbeing of students on college campuses across the nation is a increasingly prevalent and important issue. At the end of Spring semester 2016, we interviewed several students, as well as the director of Behavioral Medicine at BU, Dr. Carrie Landa.
In this episode we interview a senior psychology major from BU, Sravya Vajram. She discusses the group she founded, SpeakUP, an independent and student-run support group on campus. As well, we discuss the importance of being vulnerable and confiding in peers when dealing with mental health issues. Later in the episode, we also discuss student's general experience with Behavioral Medicine, and ways that communication between students and SHS can improve.
To learn more about her group SpeakUP, you can visit their Facebook page. Their first group support meeting is this coming October 17th.
