Dispatch from Calais
Recorded on November 10th, 2016

After sixteen years of existence, the refugee camp known as "the Jungle" of Calais, Northern France was dismantled in October leaving hundreds of men, women, and children in a precarious position as their dream to reach the UK was put on halt. We interview BU student Smaranda Tolosano who visited the “Jungle” of Calais a few days before its evacuation and followed the early stages of the government-orchestrated shutdown.

Smaranda is now working as an Digital Solutions Incubator Intern with the Pardee School as part of their Forced Migration and Human Trafficking Initiative. You can learn more about the initiative on their website here.
